Fees
Our fee structure
Host Fees
The Modding Foundation charges a fixed fee for hosting projects, which is typically a percentage of the funds raised. This fee helps cover the costs of our services and ensures that we can continue to support the projects we host. This is a payment from the hosted collective or fund account to The Modding Foundation.
Contributions on the Open Collective Platform
We charge a 5% host fee on all contributions made through the Open Collective platform. This fee is deducted automatically and you will see it reflected in your financial reports.
Contributions via Invoice or Bank Transfer
We charge a 10% host fee on all contributions made via invoice or bank transfer. This fee helps cover the additional administrative costs associated with these payment methods.
Payment Processor Fees
We use thirty-party payment processors, such as Stripe, PayPal and Wise, which apply their own procesing fees to incoming donations and outgoing expenses. Their fees vary based on payment method, currency and country involved in the transaction. These fees are deducted from the collective balance at the time of the transaction.
There are ways to reduce these fees, including bundling your transactions, using a bank transfer instead of PayPal, or having the recipent set up a personal Wise account to receive the funds.
What Our Fees Pay For
Host fees cover our costs for operational, legal, infrastructure and financial services provided to hosted projects. Beyond fiscal hosting, these fees also support other projects under the HytaleModding Grant Program initiative.
Can I get a discount?
Yes, we offer discounts on our host fees for projects that meet certain criteria. We are not here to profit from your project, but to support it.
For larger projects that exceed $1,000 in contributions, we can offer a sliding scale for our host fees, or even 0 fees at all after a certain threshold.
Please contact us to discuss your project and see if you qualify for a discount.
