The Modding Foundation

Domain Registration

How we handle domain registration for projects.

Domain Transfers

The Modding Foundation uses Cloudflare as our domain registrator. If you would like to transfer a domain to TMF, here's what you need to know:

  • Renew costs are the responsibility of the project team and must be budgeted accordingly.
  • All domain transfers must be initiated by the project admin and approved by TMF.
  • To transfer a domain, you must unlock your domain with your current registrator and provide us with the Authorization Code

Domain Management

Once a domain is successfully transferred, The Modding Foundation will take over management of the domain, including DNS settings and renewals. Project teams should coordinate with TMF for any changes or updates needed for their domains.

We will:

  • Ensure that all domain registrations are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Handle all aspects of domain management, including DNS settings and renewals.
  • Work with project teams to address any issues or changes needed for their domains.

The Domain Manager will:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all domain-related inquiries and issues.
  • Ensure sufficient funds in the Collective's balance for renewal costs

Using a CDN

We recommend using a Content Delivery Network (CDN), such as Cloudflare to manage your domain's DNS settings.

Before transferring your domain, we recommend updating your nameservers to those provided by your CDN. Using a CDN allows you to maintain full control over your DNS configuration while TMF is the domain owner.

We can update the domain configuration as needed after the transfer, but we recommend making any necessary changes before the transfer is initiated to avoid potential downtime.
